Another Beautiful Garden Party!
It was another beautiful day in the garden! This year’s annual Garden Party was another lovely opportunity to raise money to support our moms and their kids while enjoying the company of our Parisi House community of supporters. The weather was perfect this year – not too hot or cold – and board chair Kathy Williams’ home once again set the ideal tone.
This year was extra special for us. As Parisi House prepares to become a program of Momentum for Health, we took some time to honor the past and talk more about what the future has in store for our program.
The Parisi House Garden Party is our biggest fundraising event of the year. And while the primary focus is always to raise money for our program, we look forward to introducing guests to one of our graduates. We invited Adrienne Hubbel to speak this year. You might remember from our last newsletter that Adrienne celebrated 12 years of sobriety this year. At the Garden Party, she shared that her journey inspired her twin sister to get sober, and as a result, her niece has never seen her mother on drugs or alcohol! Her sister and niece were in attendance to support her along with Adrienne’s teenage son. Hers is truly a story of breaking generational patterns!
With Parisi House amidst a period of transformational growth, we took the opportunity to honor someone instrumental to our success. Chris Wilder has been a pillar in the local nonprofit community. He recently retired as CEO of the VMC Foundation. One of his first projects at VMC was to lead a capital campaign to finish construction on the new residential building our moms and kids enjoy today. While Chris could not attend, he sent in a video to share what that project meant to him. The living spaces in the building have been renamed “The Chris Wilder Community Rooms” to honor his profound impact and his passion for making our community a better place.
This year we also got to introduce our guests to Dave Mineta, CEO of Momentum for Health. He got to share about the vital work Momentum has been doing for our community. We also had several members of the Momentum staff join us this year.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this year’s Garden Party a resounding success. Through the efforts of everyone involved, we raise over $65,000 to continue providing the critical care our moms and children need to break free from their addictions and rebuild their lives. We hope to see everyone again next year!
