Former Client Shares Inspiring Story

Christy Williamson is no stranger to sharing her story. Elements of it have been featured on our website and our Facebook page. However, the former client said getting to speak at this year’s Garden Party was a huge honor, calling it “one of the best days of her recovery journey so far.” For her, it was reassuring to hear that people were inspired by her story. She will keep the memory close to her heart forever.

Christy told attendees she was able to manage her life for about 20 years despite her struggles with addiction. She raised her daughter and worked at an accounting firm during that time. It wasn’t until she got pregnant with her middle child that she realized what a tight grip addiction had over her life. That all changed when she came to Parisi House.

Christy said the transition into treatment at Parisi House was difficult at first, but being able to bond with her baby was critical to her success. Having her baby with her motivated and inspired her as she worked to rebuild her life. Throughout her time with us, caring counselors and staff members made her feel supported through this difficult journey. Thanks to the care and support she received at Parisi House on the Hill and her own hard work, Christy was finally able to break the bonds of addiction.

Today, Christy holds another accounting job with increasing responsibilities and remains a full-time mom to her two boys. She is also very active in giving back to the recovery community by helping to bring support meetings to other women who are struggling like she once was. Today she is inspiring so many people through her amazing success story, both at this year’s Garden Party and in the recovery community.
